How To Have Your Website Listed In The  Northern Ontario Website Directory

Mission Statement

The Outdoor Website came online in June of 1999. Our goal at that time was to develope a website where visitors could find links to all types of outdoor businesses across Canada and the United States. Our goal is still that.  However, one huge problem encountered was trying to find websites in the first place. That still remains one of the biggest problems,  not only for outdoor related businesses but all types of businesses
that have established websites. There have been plenty of ideas tried on the internet in the past to find a
solution for this problem but nothing is working. However,  there is one idea that has not been tried to my knowledge and that is banning together a large group of website owners to act as a single force in attempting to gain recognition for their sites. The Outdoor Website is located in Sudbury, Ontario.  It has
put together a pilot project which is now online and starts from it home page where one can click on the banner "Northern Ontario Website Directory".  From that point a person can click on one of several centres and be taken to a page that lists all kinds of business websites for that area.  How does it work?  Businesses can list their site or sites for free and in return we ask that they put a  special identification banner on their home page in a prominent location.   This way visitors to all sites that display this bannerwill start to interact with many other sites.  When visitors realize the huge number of sites that can be accessed from one single site they will no doubt start to spread the word which will increase the traffic to all member sites. The effect will start to
snowball and when that happens we will have been successful in out mission.   However, the mission needs to start with all us websites owners here in Northern Ontario.  Hopefully,  we can all see that by joining and helping each other  we will in effect be helping ourselves.
